Mercedes Grijalvo

Associate Professor at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). She is currently Deputy Director of the Organization Engineering Department, Business Administration and Statistics at Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales (UPM) and Academic Secretary of Master in Engineering Management (UPM).

Her area of research and publications is innovation:
. As a business approach: new open innovation forms, crowdsourcing and crowdfunding, regarding business models and organizational structure 
· As an educational approach: gamification and quality of service.

She has published in JCR/SCI indexed journals as Journal of Business Research, Journal of Cleaner Production, and International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research, among others. She has supervised PhD thesis in Spain and Sweden and has led research projects for companies and organizations such as AIRBUS , ELECNOR and Escuela de Organización Industrial.

In the course of her career, since 2011, she has been Professor in Business Administration, Management Accounting Corporate Finance and Writing and Communication Skills at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM).

She has also been a visiting professor at Centre de Recherche en Gestion de l'École Polytechnique (Paris, France) and Southern Illinois University Carbondale (USA).

Before joining UPM, from 2000 to 2011, she was teaching Production Management, Operations Research, Environmental Technology and Quality Management at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). She also worked as a consultant at NOVOTEC Consultores, S.A implementing, training and auditing quality systems for five years.

She graduated from Universidad  Politécnica de Madrid, Master in Electrical Engineering, in 1993. She followed the Master in Quality Management in Escuela de Organización Industrial in 1995 and obtained the MBA in 2013 at Industriales Escuela de Negocios (UPM). She also holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering since 2009, with a discussion on "Development of a conceptual model for the implementation of quality systems in sociotechnical systems" of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid."
